Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points which have been empirically and experimentally proven effective in the treatment of specific disorders. Acupuncture is an indispensable part of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the prevention and control of diseases. It was invented by the ancient Chinese between 5,000 and 10,000 years ago. Through the long-term accumulation of experience and development of needling tools, the academic accomplishments of ancient acupuncture were made about 3,000 years ago.

Acupuncture is the world’s oldest medical therapy and has been used by Chinese for 10,000 years until now. Since the sixth century, it has been introduced to other countries and is now becoming more and more popular all over the world because of its safety, effectiveness and efficiency in treating a wide range of health problems.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese medicines are predominantly herbs, although animal parts and minerals form a part of many as well. Traditional Chinese medicine considers all of our daily food as medicines also. There is a saying in Chinese medicine that “the medicinal substances and food share the same resources”. Therefore one must be aware of compatibilities and incompatibilities between herbal medicines and our daily food as well as interactions and conflicts between natural medicines and modern western drugs.

Acupressure / Reflexology

Acupressure is a technique similar to the principle of Acupuncture. It is based on the conception of life energy which flows through "meridians" in the body. In treatment, physical pressure is applied to trigger points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians. Pressure may be applied by hand, by elbow, or with various devices to treat the body disorders.

Reflexology is a therapy by applying pressure to the feet, hands, or ears with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques. It is based on the theory that body systems and internal organs have specific reflex areas on the feet , hands and ears. By applying pressure to the reflex areas, we can help treat the problems of the body systems and internal organs and promote relaxation and well-being.

TuiNa Massage

TuiNa Massage is a chinese therapy that works on the superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue by using various massage techniques, to relieve the muscle pains, muscle tension, increase muscle elasticity & flexibility, and promote relaxation and well-being.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a therapy used to treat and prevent disease by placing burning moxa near to the area to stimulate the human body with its warmth and smoke. The material used for moxibustion is mainly Chinese mugwort leaf which is fragrant and easy to be ignited. It is processed into mugwort floss for clinical use.

Cupping

Cupping is a therapy in which a jar is attached to the skin surface by use of a vaccum to cause local congestion through the negative pressure (suction) created. This is produced by igniting material in the jar which removes the oxygen from the container, this is then quicky placed on the skin and the vaccum pulls the skin tight to release sore muscles. There are a great variety of jars, but the commonly used ones are bamboo, glass and pottery jars. The latter two are more powerful for suction.
